I have the good fortune to be in like Flynn with The Motherhood, and when The Motherhood wants to take you out to lunch? Of course you go! The short people and I met up with some lovely blogger mamas and their short people.
All the mamas ordered the new Berry Almond Chicken Salad, named quite cleverly after the berries, almonds, and chicken that sit on top of the salad.
The salad was alright. I need to come clean with you, I don't order salads from fast food restaurants. I just don't, mostly because I don't like store-bought salad dressing. However. The chicken and almond combination was good; the chicken was moist and the almonds were salty and crunchy, which are two of my favorite qualities in a food item. And the green part of the salad was good, too. Wendy's uses real! actual! dark green lettuces, which are three of my favorite qualities in a lettuce leaf. There was a generous handful of blueberries, and one pathetic strawberry cut into quarters. The strawberry was but an overripe shadow of its former self, and Henry pecked it off my plate faster than, ummm, something that pecks things really fast.
For a salad that comes with fat free dressing, it packed a lot of fat - 16 grams and 150 calories, also 31 grams of sugar, and a whopping 1300 milligrams of sodium.
I had a superty fancy Wild Berry Tea, which rolls in at 140 calories, 15 milligrams of sodium and 28 grams of sugar, which really makes it Wild Berry Non-Carbonated Soda, or Wild Berry High Fructose Tea-ish.
My meal cost about $10, which is way more than I'd normally spend on lunch out. I'm a burger and fries girl, and after checking with the nutrition information on the Wendy's website, I think I'll stick with a double stack and a root beer. Link to Wendy's nutrition information

Aaaaaand because The Man has his hand on teh bloggamamas, I'm telling you that Wendy's and The Motherhood provided me with two $25 gift cards, one that we used for lunch, and one that I'm giving away. I am also being compensated for my time and the clearly honest opinion I've given.
if i won, i'd take the kids to wendys because really, can a mom ever go anywhere without her gaggle trailing behind her? and you know, i'd pass on the salad and opt for a bacon cheeseburger and fries because sometimes you gotta live on the edge.
ReplyDeleteI too would take my kids. Because I am leagally required to feed them and not leave them home alone. I would ABSOLUTELY not get a salad! LOL BTW if this thing won't accept my actual existance this is Sara :)
ReplyDeletei would take my kiddos. cause they love to get their nuggets & fries. i like to get spicy chicken. or a jr. bacon cheeseburger.
ReplyDeletethis morning when i woke up, my first thought was, "i do not want to get up". which is my first thought every morning.
Cool. Free food is good. When driving home from Grandma and Grandpa's house, it's always nice to stop and get a Frostie (especially in this heat!) to this would get us a few trips!!
ReplyDeleteBaked potato and chili...and of course, the chili would go ON TOP of the potato! It's so yummy that way. I'd probably take my kids because they're with me almost all the time anyway. My first thought this morning was: I don't want to go to work today. And I didn't.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to take my son & daughter to lunch because that would be enough for 2 visits and it's always nice to fit in some special one on one time with them!! I'd order the Spicy Chicken sandwich because it's delicious and then on the 2nd trip I'd have to at least try the new salad. I've heard great things about it and well you never know for yourself if you don't try it :)
ReplyDeleteLove their salad with the mandarin oranges!
ReplyDeleteI want to win the $25 Wendy's Gift Card and if I do I'll order a single w/cheese and everything else on it a lg. 1/2 and 1/2 tea with ALOT of ice and lemon. My husband would be my lunch companion and I think he would get a single w/cheese, everything else on it, chili and a small diet Pepsi. When I woke up this morning the first thing I remember thinking was I gotta pee. I'm serious.
ReplyDeletejust so you know. i'm late to the party. but what i do remember was that the day after you tweeted about going to wendys we went to wendys and cora ordered this salad because you made it sound like it might be good. but of course she got it without meat and only got the 1/2 option ... and they gave her lots of strawberries. and for the complete lack of vegetarian options at fast food restaurants unless you want a bun with a side of fries ... this was a relatively wonderful option for a little 4 year old vegetarian. so ... i would really just like to say i would take the kids and have fun ... but honestly ... i would probably forget that the gift card was in my wallet and i would remember in a year while i was finally cleaning out my purse and i would text you because ... well ... and then i would drive to get something with chocolate in it because i would probably be craving chocolate.
ReplyDeleteFrosties all around!! There is only one Wendy's around these parts, out toward the other side of town. So I don't get a good Frosty too often these days. 'Bout time I introduced the kiddos, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI would take my kids. I would order the Spicy Chicken Asiago Sandwich, and of course 2, chicken nugget kids meals for them.
ReplyDeletePamela-

vanessa
I'd buy lots and lost of frosties.
ReplyDeletefrosty = love so i would be all over that with the gift card and probably some kids meals so i can eat my frosty in piece while the littles are nom-nom-noming.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the commenting! I totally want that $25 gift card, mostly because I'm cheap. Um, I mean frugal.
ReplyDeleteSo, I would probably take my kids. I would order a baja salad. Because they're yummy and I cannot get enough guacamole, even if it IS from Wendy's.
See ya!
Steph
Free food! This would be so handy to have for trips to the spray park...

The googles are not letting me sign in via my google account. Meh.
I think I'd have to wait and see, but probably a spicy chicken sandwich. Yum. And I suppose my kiddos could get a "cheezbuhguh", as Addison calls it.
ReplyDelete(Blogger is being stupid, so this is Michele Keberle)
I'd take my hubby and a couple friends from college and would order a frosty and french fries, because well... when you're in college the combination of the 2 is amazing. Actually my husband finds the dipping of french fries into a frosty repulsive, so maybe I wouldn't take him. I also just have to share that every time I think about Wendy's I think about visiting the college I attended and hitting up Wendy's one night. We watched a fight between a homeless man and a non-homeless man who was stirring up trouble. Despite the fact that they threw a couple tables and milkshakes, it was quite amusing.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and just in time to enter your giveaway for the Wendy's gift card.
ReplyDeleteI could take my youngest son for lunch some day this summer...but he would use the whole amount to buy Baconators. Did I mention he is 15 and basically a human stomach with arms and legs?
If you lets me get something I'd like to try that new salad. Or get the one with the oranges since that is the usual thing I order there when the weather is warm.
I could really go for about 10 frosty floats right now.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the giveaway. I would have to say that a burger and fries would win out with me. You can reach me at knechtslodge@yahoo.com or www.cabininthewoods-diane.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Diane
I would order the SAME thing as you! it sounded delicious!
