there's nothing for it

My boy is sad. His Special Bwankey, Bewovey, or as the tall people say, Belovey, has been missing for almost a week. He cried himself to sleep tonight. The substitute Belovey is unacceptable. He can't even suck his thumb properly because he doesn't have his Belovey to help. And nothing smells the way Belovey smells (for this, I am thankful...there was no hope for making it smell fresh ever again).

He cries like his heart is broken.

Because it is broken.

And that makes me very, very sad.

Because three is too young to have an unfixable hurt.

  1. Oh, definitely too young for an unfixable heart...may it surprisingly mend soon!

  2. (heartbreak)

My heart goes out to Wee Man. There has to be another blankey out there.

(and I suspect that any age is too young to have an unfixable hurt)

  5. Oh, poor thing! Coming from someone who had a blankey much longer then she should have, I can relate to that pain.

  6. I once had my lovey (a bright red t-shirt) ripped out of my hands by some evil little monkey in a zoo. He then ran up to the top of his tree and ripped it to shreds in front of my eyes.
Years later I went back to that zoo and had a visceral reaction to that same cage even though it now contained some birds.
No wonder really that I didn't give up my other lovey until I had kids of my own.
Poor little guy. My heart goes out to him. It's a sad thing to lose a lovey.

  7. Oh no! There really is no replacing a beloved blankey. I'm sorry for your little guy.

Have you tried giving him one of your shirts or nightgowns, one that has pleny of mommy smell on it?

  16. as Cameron would say:

Good Gaybee! Hasen't that thing been found. No other child on the planet would think about snuggling up with it. (i've seen it believe me they wouldn't) for your sakes I hope he finds something else real quick that will fill the void in his life.
